Kurdistan's Peshmerga forces were mobilized in Kirkuk governorate amid threats from the Iranian Militias in Iraq and Syria (IMIS) and Baghdad's central government, a Kurdish source said on Wednesday.
The source said that Peshmega forces sent infantry, armored vehicles and artillery units to the governorate to reinforce its posts in its cities and towns.
This comes amid rising tensions between Baghdad and Erbil as Kurdistan will hold an independence referendum on 25th of September to secede from Iraq.Last Modified: 09 13 2017 11:40 PM
