Bashar al-Kiki, head of the Nineveh Council, announced on Wednesday that the council will hold a meeting to discuss the tasks of the Tribal Mobilization and Nineveh Guards and the possibility of integrating them into the governmental police.
Kiki, a Kurd, added that this may happen only after the approval of the Iraqi government and parliament as they are the only entities that can order the integration of the Tribal Mobilization and Ninevah Guards into the police.
The meeting will be held at 12:00 pm (local time). It is considered the fifth meeting for the council after retaking the headquarters of the Nineveh Governorate from ISIS grip.
Tribal Mobilization includes more than 30 factions affiliated with the Iranian militia in Iraq and Syria (IMIS) while the Nineveh Guards are headed by former governor of Nineveh Atheel al-Nujaifi.
The Tribal Mobilization was founded to participate in the operations aiming to recapture ISIS-held areas.
