Kurdistan Government President Masoud Barzani Masoud Barzani will remain in office but with no powers, until holding presidential elections, Kurdistan Islamic Group leader Shawn Raber said Sunday.
He added that Barzani decided to transfer the powers of the chairperson to the Kurdish Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani, the Parliament, and the Advisory Council.
Barzani did that to rescue the Region from the crisis that it was facing after conducting the independence referendum on Sept. 25.
Barzani should have resigned as his mandate ended this month and after Baghdad had controlled the disputed area of Kirkuk, he asserted.
It is worth mentioning that Kurdish High Commission has suspended presidential elections as no one has run for president.
