A senior leader in Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) was killed during clashes with Iraqi security forces in Zummar district in the north of Mosul city.
Wahid Bakozi, Head of Branch 17 of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) was killed by one of the shells fired by Iran-backed militias (IMIS) artillery on Peshmerga positions in Zummar.
On Thursday, clashes erupted between Iraqi security forces and Peshmerga forces in Zummar as Iraqi troops sought to take control of Faysh Khabur border crossing with Turkey.
Iraqi security forces backed by Iranian militias are attempting to take control over Kirkuk–Ceyhan Oil Pipeline by recapturing Faysh Khabur border crossing which is located in Kurdish-held Dohuk Governorate.
