Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Service (CTS) on Tuesday confirmed that Kirkuk governorate is totally under control.
In a statement, the spokesman of CTS Sabah al-Noman denied the CTS's advance towards Kurdistan border crossings in northern Iraq.
The presence of CTS troops in Kirkuk aims to maintain security in the province according to directives issued by Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi.
Tensions between Baghdad- Erbil over the future of Kurdistan have been high since the Kurds voted for independence in a September referendum.
Peshmerga forces have been fending off attacks launched by the Iraqi forces, backed by IMIS on the region.
